The painting – This is a painting of the framer’s wife Danielle, taken from a photo from her wedding day. Continuing with the theme depicted in Renaissance Woman, the artist deviated from the reference photo to create a more classical portrait style. Acrylics on 18″x24″ canvas.
The mask – This “Harpy” mask was created for Danielle (wife to our framer, Dave) to be worn in a theatrical production written by Devin, and therefore is her keepsake. It is crafted of paper mache over a plastic base with hand sculpted features.
The frame – This frame is surrounded by beadwork and carved flowers to match the details in the painting. The stain consists of a base yellow color covered with a glaze coat to give it that antique look. The frame is constructed of Poplar hardwood in order to strike a balance between weight and strength, and it is finished in durable shellac. There are magnets mounted two locations in the frame to support the mask hooks either in front of the face or below the
frame.
