Terpsichore
Sold

Ever since I took up belly dancing many years ago, I have been trying to paint a belly dancer. Many times I started drawing a typical portrait of a lady in a dance costume, and immediately threw them out. Belly dancing isn't about standing around looking good... it's about movement and music. It's about a feeling.

Then one morning in that stage between asleep and awake I suddenly saw her. I lept out of bed, quickly sketched it out, and started slapping down paint. Three hours later she was completed. She is my quickest painting and my largest to date and I am very happy with her.

The name Terpsichore is from the Goddess of Music and Dance.
