| This piece was originally painted in 2001, and was inspired by both a photograph of a friend and some lovely photos of the trees in Northern California. I was always happy with how the trees turned out but I was generally unhappy with the overall painting. In January of 2007 I "discovered" CG Society, and more specifically Steven Stahlberg's paintover tutorial, and it changed the way I look at colors and tonal values. This inspired me to revisit some of my old artwork and this piece was the first to incorporate what I have learned (with some suggestions from Mr. Stahlberg).
